At best, norovirus causes days of discomfort from fever, body aches and
abdominal cramps along with other unpleasant symptoms. More serious
infections can result in hospitalization and, at worst, in rare cases, it even leads
to death. Dehydration is the primary culprit of the more serious cases due to
vomiting and diarrhea. The most likely people to experience a serious case of
norovirus are older adults and … you guessed it … the very young, a fact that’s
even more concerning considering up to 80% of children will experience a
norovirus infection before their first birthday.
